Winter Night Street League During the dark autumn and winter weekday nights Harlequin run in the Night Steeet League (NSL). This is a street competion, not night orienteering, the majority of events take place in towns on streets and parhs. There are three courses - Short, Medium, Long and a trophy is awarded at the end of the season... The calender always includes an Xmas visit to Streetley where Dot Keeling provides a gorgeous Xmas Feast. The highlight of the NSL year is the Bewdley Mountain Marathon organised by Russ Fauset. For more details, a fixtures list and results - please follow the link on the left.
West Midlands League This
competition takes place over ten nominated colour-coded events
organised by WMOA clubs during the course of a calendar year. It is an
INDIVIDUAL competition for each of the 32 BOF age classes and a CLUB
competition based on the best 15 individual club members' scores in a
prescribed range of classes. (After nearly 20 years of trying HOC won
the league in 2003!)
The competition is open to all members of WMOA open or closed clubs who
do not compete for other clubs in major or national events. Each
competitor must run in one of their designated classes.
West Midlands Night League This is proper orienteering, on Saturday nights. The race is a one hour 'score' format. The league seems to be going through a quiet patch and the website has gone walkabout.
Western Night League A popular and long established league, taking place on Saturday nights. Again a one hour 'score' format. Several of the races are within reach of the Midlands and there is often a joint WML/SWNL event organised by Harlequins in the Malvern area. Beware!!! As of 1st October 2003 the WNL website appears to show fixtures for the 2002/2003 Season - though unhelpfully it does not list the year so some folks might get confused!
